What Would YOU Do..?

Unbeknownst to many, I do some side work with a specially designed public schools program for behavioral & learning disability kids. I've been running a writing assignment with them lately, for which the prompt is the question, "What Would You Do If You Were Given A Million Dollars?"
The responses have varied immensely, from the expected "go HAM" fantasies to the less-obvious "I would never take money from a stranger without my parent's permission" (one kid actually said that, going into detail about all the bad things that could happen if you accept gifts from strangers). All in all, it's been a pretty awesome and revealing exercise thus far.
The thing that strikes me as hella cool though, is the fact that out of all the kids I work with (around 25 or so), only 3 of them wrote solely about the video games, candy, and trinkets they'd buy for themselves. The majority of them devoted their entire first couple of paragraphs to what they'd do for OTHERS; family, friends, people & causes in need -- before circling around to the video games, candy, and trinkets they'd splurge on.
Genuinely surprised by and impressed with these middle-school student's selflessness & generosity, I'm left wondering: At what point in our lives does it become all about ME, ME, ME? Is it just me, or does it seem that most adults are more concerned with their own fleeting desires than the needs of those around us?
So, considering the world around you, and leaving out the video games, candy, and trinkets you'd buy for yourself (ha); what would YOU do if you were given a million dollars?
