UNFILMOUS.
"Unfamous Mindframe" Official Music Video
Art and Direction by Christophe Roberts http://christopheroberts.com
Filming and Cinematography by Zubaer Khan http://zubaerkhan.com
Editing and erratic hand motions by Anacron
It's been far too long since I've delivered an official visual for you AnaManiacs. With several forthcoming music video productions halted in mid-production, I decided to take matters into my own hands. As they say, "if you want something done right, do it yourself."
On a recent trip to to the East Coast, my team made magic happen within a few free hours of a busy schedule. My NYC-based PNTGLLRYNTWRK crew members and good friends and I rallied an idea to create a visual for my latest collaboration with Daze and Diles; as it thoroughly identifies all of our artistic hustles.
Christophe Roberts (aka Perv One) is a known visual artist and sculptor, who's work can be seen all over New York and in magazines. Zubaer Khan (aka DJZu) is a seasoned cinematographer & editor that's flexed his skill for everyone from Revolt TV to CBS, and has worked on a few of my previous projects. The Brazilian homie Mauricio Tadashi (aka ChiliBreakz), the owner of the Original US merchandising and accessories company, showed up for support and good vibes. If you're up on your Peanut Gallery crew history, then you should be familiar with all of these brothas.
The result of our combined efforts is a simple, yet masterful piece. Filmed on location in Brooklyn, NY; the imagery is reminiscent of the basic freshness of early 90's styling and visuals. After watching this PNTGLLRYNTWRK family production, you'll understand the lyric, "...new Peanut Gallery / So Golden Era."
Thanks for watching... Comment, share, and ENJOY.

MY MINDFRAME IS...

You know how I do. It's been about a month, so it's about that time to hit you with something new. Although, with all the saxophoning, singing, and instrumentation I've been doing lately; I thought it'd be best to let the next public heater be a good old-fashioned boom-bap beats and raps cut for my core fan-base -- the true blue underground hip hop heads.
Enter: "Unfamous Mindframe." You've seen it on events, you've heard it on records, you've even seen the logo on merchandise. On this, my second collaboration with ABQ-based producer Diles, I decided to take some time to explain what exactly "UNFAMOUS" means. For those that haven't gotten it up until now, this is the song that will open your eyes, ears, and mind to the UNFAMOUS movement, and why you should be involved.
In addition to all the goodness in it, what pure rap song is complete without a visit from my favorite DJ, The OG Daze Uno? Press play and turn the speakers up, this one's going to knoc your socs off.
LYRICS
My mindframe is UNFAMOUS
It's not a label, it's a lifestyle, language,
and love for music not that lack-luster lameness
It's not exclusive, any open mind can claim this
My mindframe is UNFAMOUS
It's not a label, it's a lifestyle, language,
and love for music not that lack-luster lameness
It's not exclusive, any open mind can claim this
It's a movement, new improved knit
fabric woven holding golden intent
Indent the game and bent the frame
Started with The Gallery, and then became
the underground definitive, the indie blueprint
We found the limit, then we simply moved it
It's in me, dude it's the source of greatness
Undeniable, and of course UNFAMOUS
fabric woven holding golden intent
Indent the game and bent the frame
Started with The Gallery, and then became
the underground definitive, the indie blueprint
We found the limit, then we simply moved it
It's in me, dude it's the source of greatness
Undeniable, and of course UNFAMOUS
You like, "Don't forget us when you blow up!"
Then you forget my shows and never show up
So you know what?
I'll never forget the effort made to support my endeavors
It's just like karma: You get what you give
You're writing the future within the script that you live
Inviting my troopers and friends to kick it and hang, 'cause
they still showed love when I was just UNFAMOUS
Then you forget my shows and never show up
So you know what?
I'll never forget the effort made to support my endeavors
It's just like karma: You get what you give
You're writing the future within the script that you live
Inviting my troopers and friends to kick it and hang, 'cause
they still showed love when I was just UNFAMOUS
We don't do hype, we don't do trends
We don't feel like the means should bend for ends
And we kept the friends that actually know us
instead of dissing them for Yes-Men that practically blow us
Some of yawl are trying to re-write history
how you went from what you were to how you are is a mystery
Abandoned values you was taught when you came up
You lame, cuz - you'd never make it UNFAMOUS
We don't feel like the means should bend for ends
And we kept the friends that actually know us
instead of dissing them for Yes-Men that practically blow us
Some of yawl are trying to re-write history
how you went from what you were to how you are is a mystery
Abandoned values you was taught when you came up
You lame, cuz - you'd never make it UNFAMOUS
'Nuff respect to all the artists in here
None object that this the hardest career
But unlike most, it wasn't a choice
It's the only thing you know, and so you trust in your voice
But you speak from the soul, you speak from the heart
Hard to reach are your goals when you're speaking through art
Most don't understand it all the same
just maintain and be you, stay UNFAMOUS
None object that this the hardest career
But unlike most, it wasn't a choice
It's the only thing you know, and so you trust in your voice
But you speak from the soul, you speak from the heart
Hard to reach are your goals when you're speaking through art
Most don't understand it all the same
just maintain and be you, stay UNFAMOUS

REMINISCENT.
I always try to drop something epic on my birthday for the True-Blue AnaManiacs. This year was no different, as I opted to spend my birthday weekend locked in the house, working on something to completely blow your mind.
I was first introduced to this classic Hip-Hop trac in the early 90's, during one of my regular sessions of ditching school to record rap videos off BET Rap City. As an avid saxophonist and well-trained jazz musician, I remember falling in love with the track as soon as that Tom Scott riff came blaring out of the TV, and I instantly unpaused the record button on the VCR.
I decided this year, soon after the passing of my homie and LA Breakers crew member Andrew Scala aka Bboy Drew LAB, that it was time to finally implement the recreation of this monumental anthem. The home recording session began late Friday night, and concluded Sunday evening, just before the song went live to the internet. I worked extremely hard on this one, bringing all the live, programmed, and emotional elements together to make this thing real.

EFF SWAG.
Hey, you may have heard by now that I've got a new remix EP out.
If you haven't, it's time to wake up and smell the fresh.
If you haven't, it's time to wake up and smell the fresh.
The "Schwing Remix EP" features Oakland's Tajai of Souls of Mischief / Hieroglyphics, Chicago's Qwazaar of Typical Cats, Brooklyn's Illspokinn of Freestyle Mondays NYC, and St. Louis' Firewater Redstarr of Ridah Movement. This is a handful of some of the brightest and most stellar emcees that I admire and support to the fullest, so I know you'll enjoy hearing their vision and delivery of what "Schwing" means and why it's important to just BE YOU when you get dressed in the morning.
I produced both mixes. I played and programmed all the synthetic sounds you hear on the "Nationwide Unfamous" version; then, I played and arranged all the live instruments you hear on the "Dusty Viny Live Session" version. Sometimes I have to flex my musical talents like that, just as a reminder of what sets me apart from the every-day computer program producer. I'm not a beat-maker making music; I'm a musician making beats.
Plus, it's free... Don't hate.

FOR THE WIN.
Anacron's "Rich Girls" UNFAMOUS Remix Contest closes with a bang, and after tumultuous bumps, the winners have been chosen! After several days of deliberation, the contest judges (Tiffology, DJ Audio 1, Ryan Monk, Moonsatellite, and the PNTGLLRYNTWRK's own JusChris) have selected the following pieces as the outstanding best of just under 20 entries.
Anacron - Rich Girls (MAW Remix) by MAW. 18-year old Australian DJ/producer Matt Watkins can be found doing his thing on the decks at various clubs around Melbourne, when he's not making smooth, futuristic tracks like this. Follow and hear many more of his tunes HERE.
Anacron - Rich Girls (n8 the gr8-remix) by n8thegr8cuf. West coast underground veteran producer and lyricist N8 The Gr8 has been rocking for years as a member of the legendary bay-area outfit The CUF, and has recently moved into producing and releasing artists from his stable, N-Crowd. Check out more of his latest masterpieces HERE.
Anacron-Rich Girls (Siggatunez RMX) by siggatunez|siggi tunezia. German producer Siggi Tunezia has released numerous house tracks via European label Houseworx, despite a deep history rooted in hip hop. Many of his heavily infectious beats can be heard HERE.
Be sure to check out the contest collaborators in the coming days for more favorites that didn't make the final cut, and upcoming interviews/content from contest winners:

OUT THERE.
Anacron's debut underground single, "Out There"; written, produced, and recorded in 1993 then released and circulated on dub-quality underground tapes throughout the mid 1990's. Later pressed on short-run vinyl, this rare release has been re-mastered and paired with "Interstellar Phenomenon", Anacron's standout track from the original 1994 Peanut Gallery compilation cassette.

JUDGE MENTAL.
MEET THE JUDGES OF THE "RICH GIRLS" UNFAMOUS REMIX CONTEST... PART DEUX!
What it is, yawl.
I want you to meet my homeboy jusChris of the PNTGLLRYNTWRK. He's a gnarly dude with a keen business sense and a knack for falling into narcoleptic fits of unconsciousness at the drop of a dime. Because of his vast music collection and his direct association with my company/crew, he'll be one of 5 cool folks judging the "Rich Girls" remix contest. Get to know him...
ANACRON SAYS: Why Black people can't never just use they real names? I call that "Toby Syndrome".
2. What the hell do you do in the music world? Former emcee. Now the business arm of The Gallery Network and Recording Engineer.
ANACRON SAYS: Recording engineer? That's news to me, I ain't never seen this dude mix a damn thang!
3. What the hell do you do outside of the music world? Besides being a laughing fool? A proud father, sports fan and political junkie. Oh yeah.. I do a few things with computers ( nerd speak: I'm a systems admin)
4. Who are you top 3 favorite music producers/writers/composers? Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Hancock and Dilla.
5. How would you beat a wolverine, a chimpanzee, and a shark in a fight? Damn that's the hardest question ... besides torching them all with a back packed super photon blazer ... is running an option? The chimp would be hella easy though ..I wouldn't take loosing to a chimp lightly bahaha.
ANACRON SAYS: Well, hopefully no one puts you up against that chimp in a spelling bee, because you spelled "losing" wrong.

REMIX ME.
Holas, Bro-las!
If any of you awesome AnaManiacs were paying attention to my twitter/facebook feeds last night, then you already know that today marks the launch date for my first open-invite REMIX COMPETITION. If you make beats, play in a band, or compose/record any type of music whatsoever, this is your chance to get fresh prizes just by re-working my latest single, "Rich Girls".
My official cover of The Virgins "Rich Girls", which touched down just over a week ago, has been generating some serious noise with the upper echelon of underground music -- it's only a short matter of time before the indie "mainstream" grabs ahold of the bandwagon reins. Before that happens, I'm giving the music makers of the world a chance to put their own spin on it, and possibly win some awesomely UNFAMOUS prizes!
If this sounds like something you "might could" manage... Click the image and check out the contest details on my website. GOOD LUCK, competitors - come with your best!

RICH GIRLS.
IT'S HERE! My new song & video, "Rich Girls"... Me on all instruments, programming, & vocals; covering one of my favorite bands, The Virgins. The digital download, paired with an eclectic hip hop track entitled "Schwing", will be available this Thursday via iTunes, Google Play, Bandcamp, & more.
If you like it, please SHARE it! If you hate it... "Awwwww, don't be like thaaaaat!"
An eclectic yet dance-ready cover of The Virgin's breakout hit; as produced, performed, and played by multi-faceted PNTGLLRYNTWRK member and founder, Anacron. The official music video, starring actress Minni Jo Mazzola (of NBC series, "Parks and Recreation", & internet webisode "The Homes"), is a playful romp between Anacron and an all-too-familiar "rich girl" stereotype; in which he questions her over-the-top princess persona.
Anacron's "Rich Girls" single will be made officially available for digital purchase and download via iTunes, Google Play, Bandcamp, and more on Thursday, August 23, 2012. The single also features an expressly eclectic hip-hop track entitled "Schwing", as well as instrumentals of both songs. More at http://AnacronMusic.com
