WHAT DO YOU SUPPORT?

I'm disgusted. Not only with this character, but more so with what #HipHop / #Rap music and culture has become, and how it continues to perpetuate the cycle of this kind of behavior.

While it's not plausible to blame someone's actions solely on popular music, culture, or marketing; I definitely believe & support the idea that what's portrayed as important and acceptable allows people to justify ill-made & despicable actions like this. So many of us will hear about this, and look at this young rapper with distaste -- but how many of us will actually decide to no longer continue to support, fund, and sustain the same patterns of ignorance and buffoonery that both directly and indirectly encourage and validate this kind of behavior?

Consider the music that you listen to, enjoy, and purchase. What is it really saying to you and the people around you? Are the ideas and images you're receiving something that will in any way adding to the empowerment, advancement, or evolution of your art, culture, race, or people as a whole? There's no guarantee that ending the glorification & promotion of money and violence will make a difference, but when there's an apparent connection between both and hip hop in a situation like this... I think it's worth a try.

I know some will laugh this off and call me a "hater" or whatever. That's cool with me - I'll be a hater. Those that understand and agree, however; please re-post, re-share, and reinforce this.

My ideas, my beliefs, and my values make me proudly #UNFAMOUS.

MY MINDFRAME IS...

Written and performed by Anacron for Manoemusicc
Produced by Diles for Visceral View
Turntablism by DJ Daze Uno
From Green Chile In The Air: Volume III
Download at pntg.net/gcinta3
You know how I do. It's been about a month, so it's about that time to hit you with something new. Although, with all the saxophoning, singing, and instrumentation I've been doing lately; I thought it'd be best to let the next public heater be a good old-fashioned boom-bap beats and raps cut for my core fan-base -- the true blue underground hip hop heads.
Enter: "Unfamous Mindframe." You've seen it on events, you've heard it on records, you've even seen the logo on merchandise. On this, my second collaboration with ABQ-based producer Diles, I decided to take some time to explain what exactly "UNFAMOUS" means. For those that haven't gotten it up until now, this is the song that will open your eyes, ears, and mind to the UNFAMOUS movement, and why you should be involved.
In addition to all the goodness in it, what pure rap song is complete without a visit from my favorite DJ, The OG Daze Uno? Press play and turn the speakers up, this one's going to knoc your socs off.
LYRICS
My mindframe is UNFAMOUS
It's not a label, it's a lifestyle, language,
and love for music not that lack-luster lameness
It's not exclusive, any open mind can claim this
It's a movement, new improved knit
fabric woven holding golden intent
Indent the game and bent the frame
Started with The Gallery, and then became
the underground definitive, the indie blueprint
We found the limit, then we simply moved it
It's in me, dude it's the source of greatness
Undeniable, and of course UNFAMOUS
You like, "Don't forget us when you blow up!"
Then you forget my shows and never show up
So you know what?
I'll never forget the effort made to support my endeavors
It's just like karma: You get what you give
You're writing the future within the script that you live
Inviting my troopers and friends to kick it and hang, 'cause
they still showed love when I was just UNFAMOUS
We don't do hype, we don't do trends
We don't feel like the means should bend for ends
And we kept the friends that actually know us
instead of dissing them for Yes-Men that practically blow us
Some of yawl are trying to re-write history
how you went from what you were to how you are is a mystery
Abandoned values you was taught when you came up
You lame, cuz - you'd never make it UNFAMOUS
'Nuff respect to all the artists in here
None object that this the hardest career
But unlike most, it wasn't a choice
It's the only thing you know, and so you trust in your voice
But you speak from the soul, you speak from the heart
Hard to reach are your goals when you're speaking through art
Most don't understand it all the same
just maintain and be you, stay UNFAMOUS
My mindframe is UNFAMOUS
It's not a label, it's a lifestyle, language,
and love for music not that lack-luster lameness
It's not exclusive, any open mind can claim this
UNFAMOUS

UNFAMOUS.

Get #UNFAMOUS! My live indie arts series continues tonight in Hollywood, & it's a banger once again!

Tonight, I'm featuring performances by:
The Queen of West Coast Hip Hop, MEDUSA (I call her Mama)
CRIME ROCK, an awesome new film noir rock outfit led by Brandon Jordan (of punk band Killradio)
SUMMER RONA, an awesome songstress that's rocked live with everyone from Stevie Wonder to The Gap Band
E. Ray's band GHETTO PHYSICS, the tightest funk/soul/jazz/blues band from the 'hood side of Los Angeles you're probably scared to go to.

In addition to all that:
I've got a bangin' live beat set by Ohio's own MR. SKIP-A-BEAT
DJ sets by the Boston-bred-but-LA-reppin' homie TATE LA ROCK (from dubstep crew 3 Stripes) and the break-beat master CHILI BREAKZ (from Brazil)
Beautiful hand-made artwork & trinkets by NINOSKA ARTE (they're so West Coast)
and live portrait sketching by CAMILA ROCHA of High Voltage Tattoo / L.A. Ink!

In short, you're going to slap yourself twice and push yourself down the stairs if you miss this. Come through On The Rox, upstairs from The Roxy on the Sunset Strip -- 8pm until 2am, and it'll only cost you a measly $5. I'm working hard to bring that GOOD VIBE bac to L.A.'s underground, come get some!

FOR THE WIN.

Anacron's "Rich Girls" UNFAMOUS Remix Contest closes with a bang, and after tumultuous bumps, the winners have been chosen! After several days of deliberation, the contest judges (Tiffology, DJ Audio 1, Ryan Monk, Moonsatellite, and the PNTGLLRYNTWRK's own JusChris) have selected the following pieces as the outstanding best of just under 20 entries.

Anacron - Rich Girls (MAW Remix) by MAW. 18-year old Australian DJ/producer Matt Watkins can be found doing his thing on the decks at various clubs around Melbourne, when he's not making smooth, futuristic tracks like this. Follow and hear many more of his tunes HERE.

Anacron - Rich Girls (n8 the gr8-remix) by n8thegr8cuf. West coast underground veteran producer and lyricist N8 The Gr8 has been rocking for years as a member of the legendary bay-area outfit The CUF, and has recently moved into producing and releasing artists from his stable, N-Crowd. Check out more of his latest masterpieces HERE

Anacron-Rich Girls (Siggatunez RMX) by siggatunez|siggi tunezia. German producer Siggi Tunezia has released numerous house tracks via European label Houseworx, despite a deep history rooted in hip hop. Many of his heavily infectious beats can be heard HERE.

Be sure to check out the contest collaborators in the coming days for more favorites that didn't make the final cut, and upcoming interviews/content from contest winners:

REMIX ME.

Holas, Bro-las!

If any of you awesome AnaManiacs were paying attention to my twitter/facebook feeds last night, then you already know that today marks the launch date for my first open-invite REMIX COMPETITION. If you make beats, play in a band, or compose/record any type of music whatsoever, this is your chance to get fresh prizes just by re-working my latest single, "Rich Girls".

My official cover of The Virgins "Rich Girls", which touched down just over a week ago, has been generating some serious noise with the upper echelon of underground music -- it's only a short matter of time before the indie "mainstream" grabs ahold of the bandwagon reins. Before that happens, I'm giving the music makers of the world a chance to put their own spin on it, and possibly win some awesomely UNFAMOUS prizes!

If this sounds like something you "might could" manage... Click the image and check out the contest details on my website. GOOD LUCK, competitors - come with your best!

RICH GIRLS.

IT'S HERE! My new song & video, "Rich Girls"... Me on all instruments, programming, & vocals; covering one of my favorite bands, The Virgins. The digital download, paired with an eclectic hip hop track entitled "Schwing", will be available this Thursday via iTunesGoogle PlayBandcamp, & more.

If you like it, please SHARE it! If you hate it... "Awwwww, don't be like thaaaaat!"

An eclectic yet dance-ready cover of The Virgin's breakout hit; as produced, performed, and played by multi-faceted PNTGLLRYNTWRK member and founder, Anacron. The official music video, starring actress Minni Jo Mazzola (of NBC series, "Parks and Recreation", & internet webisode "The Homes"), is a playful romp between Anacron and an all-too-familiar "rich girl" stereotype; in which he questions her over-the-top princess persona.

Anacron's "Rich Girls" single will be made officially available for digital purchase and download via iTunes, Google Play, Bandcamp, and more on Thursday, August 23, 2012. The single also features an expressly eclectic hip-hop track entitled "Schwing", as well as instrumentals of both songs. More at http://AnacronMusic.com

ATYPICAL.

ANAMANIACS: My full-length 2007 release, "atypicalcd" has migrated from iTunes to GooglePlay... Listen via the cloud with Android phones, tablets, & standard desktop computers! http://goo.gl/tcrMb

Album Title: Atypicalcd
Artist: Anacron
Album Production: Anacron, Old Man Malcolm, Earmint, Subterrain Area
Featured Artists: Irie, PervOne, Astrobwoy, Christian Riley
Length: 14 Tracks / Approximately 55 Minutes
Label: PntGllryNtwrk
Release: Street Winter 2007 / Distribution Spring 2008
Finally, the most-known-unknown renaissance artist in hip hop returns with his first solo release in over 5 years. Atypicalcd is a full-length album that serves as an official re-introduction to second-generation Los Angeles underground veteran Anacron, who re-located to and assisted in cultivating Chicago’s budding hip hop scene at the dawn of the new millennium. Anacron shines brightly on this album, boasting his easily relatable, catchy, and conversational songwriting, rapping, and singing skills throughout the listen. In addition to his own traditionally inventive beat production style, the sonically crisp LP also features production by Chicago’s underground mainstay Earmint, and SubterrainArea from southern France. Old Man Malcolm, the DJ/producer of Citizen King, Garbage, Codebreaker, Newsense, Minus After, and several other noteworthy groups, also makes an appearance in preparation for Cornrowz, a forthcoming collaborative major release with Anacron. Vocal guests include Pairograffs comrade Irie, Peanut Gallery Network member and Seattle transplant PervOne, Newsense bassist and vocalist Christian Riley, and long-time Los Angeles collaborator Astrobwoy.
Anacron has released over 15 solo and group projects since 1994, but is most recognized for his efforts as project coordinator, producer, and lyricist on the heralded classic underground album Pals (Galapagos 4 / Basement Records) by Netherworlds (Murs, Himself, and Anacron). Already privy to a dedicated following and steadily growing fan-base, Anacron is a well-known figure in other sects of the hip hop and entertainment world, and has remained an active yet low-key element in the global hip hop scene throughout the past decade. Atypicalcd serves as the gateway to a string of upcoming releases that will re-introduce the various talents of, and make the world fall in love with the UNFAMOUS super-star quality of Anacron.
